My yoga practice came late in life, although the seed was planted in 1985 when a friend gave me a book on yoga. After years of surfing and paddling I had chronic back pain, arthritis in the neck and a long thoracic nerve palsy and a winged scapula. in 2011 i walked into the Yoga Garage and started practicing Bikram Yoga. I was unable to lift my left arm above my head so in Half Moon I had to hold my left hand up with my right hand. Yoga resolved my back pain and accelerated the healing of the long thoracic nerve. In 2019 along with my partner Anna we did a Hatha teacher training in India at Ayur Yoga Ashram about an hour out of Mysore in South India. For me the best way to really know something is to teach it and so I have. My first Yin experience was in 2014 in California and in August 2021 I completed Kat Gegory’s Yin Yoga Teacher Training and added Yin Yin Yoga to my teaching schedule. In my Yin Classes I give my students the yogic tools of pranayama, meditation, mantras, affirmations and mindfulness as well as the beautiful long poses of Yin yoga. I encourage people to bring yogic practices out of the yoga studio and into everyday life. I look forward to seeing you in a Yin class, my teaching is an extension of my daily yoga practice so each class is different.
