Yoga came to me at a time when I really thought my body was just broken. I knew nothing about yoga 10 years ago as I was a hockey player and suddenly had to stop playing because of excruciating pain in my lower back and down the back of my leg via my sciatic nerve. Not much fun to deal with. I ended up under the knife of a surgeon.
I was pretty much addicted to playing hockey so when that was no longer possible Bikram Yoga came into my life and it changed everything. I got what I needed to start to heal 30 years of destroying my body. I got more than just the physical, I found that there was more to yoga than just the physical aspect and many other things in my life became much easier. I ended up quitting my job of nearly 6 years and took off to Italy for 6 months. When I returned to Australia I knew that I wanted to do the teacher training and set about figuring out how to achieve that as I wanted to give this gift to people. In 2014 this became possible and I went and did the 9-week training in LA with my husband. Best decision of my life. I now have the privilege and pleasure to guide students through their practice and hopefully, they will in time start to see the magic that having yoga in their life means.
